We’re looking for a technical leader to create our strategy to securely scale our software product and manage the product and engineering teams that make it happen. 

Via TRM is a Traveler Relationship Management startup software company in the edtech and travel space and we’re powering the next generation of global citizens with a mission to “empower every advisor to engage every student in global opportunities.” 

We help study abroad offices at universities and educational travel companies send more students abroad on short term and extended international programs with our advising, application management, and travel tracking software. 

We are looking for a technical leader with prior experience in taking early-stage startups into the next phase of growth and stability. The person in this role will own the software implementation strategy and (re)define the SDLC along with the executive, engineering, and product team leaders. This person will help our engineering team learn and grow and ensure that our engineering culture and practices are aligned with the company strategy and business goals.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Managing the product and engineering teams as well as augmentation resources as needed
  • Create an engineering culture consistent with broader company culture and core values
  • Ensure methodology and best practice consistency to optimize delivery quality
  • Meet with engineering and product team members one on one and support their professional development
  • Create scalability plan with inputs and support from engineering and product teams
  • Identify and manage contract engineering resources, as needed
  • Make annual and quarterly budget recommendations to resource engineering and product teams
  • Establish engineering practices to be WCAG compliant to level AA
  • Interviewing and hiring new engineers, as needed 
  • Meet with CEO weekly and as-needed to identify areas of risk and opportunity related to product goals
  • Finalize annual and quarterly product roadmaps with executive team and engineering and product leads
  • Review, audit, and create plans for improving IT security policies and coding practices
  • Work with engineering team to document (and establish where needed) code style guides
  • Conduct one on ones with engineering and product teams

REQUIREMENTS/ MUST HAVES

  • Experience in leading engineering teams at a startup in a growth stage
  • Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical business leaders the strategy for scaling our software with the ability to support the strategy with a tactical plan
  • Located in Colorado, specifically Denver or Boulder (or willing to move to Colorado. All qualified applicants based in the United States are encouraged to apply.)
  • 10+ years of software development with real-world Rails applications, with Rails versions through 4.0.x 
  • Worked with React/Vue/Angular app in production (We use React)
  • Experience in Javascript 
  • Experience using git, GitHub
  • Experience performing code reviews, enforcing coding standards, mentoring junior and mid-level developers, and managing technical resources within project schedules
  • High degree of familiarity with SQL databases, including data modeling in SQL
  • Expertise in working with cloud providers such as AWS, for application hosting, horizontal and vertical scaling, storage solutions
  • Knowledge of best practices in designing and architecting localized Rails applications
  • Comfortable working in an environment where innovation and change are the norm and often encouraged
  • A passion for building great products

  • A degree in computer science/engineering

Operations Manager

We’re looking for an operations manager to join our office in Boulder, CO to perform all daily aspects of the office, ensure the office runs smoothly and provide administrative management in accounting, finance, human resources and other various functions.

We are looking for an operations manager with prior experience running an office and performing a broad spectrum of administrative tasks that enable a smooth-running office and help improve day-to-day operations including office management, bookkeeping, accounting and HR duties like payroll, onboarding, recruiting and recordkeeping.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Office Management – manage the procurement and management of all office supplies, including equipment, furniture, office supplies, and special requests. 
  • Event Planning – organize employee events (e.g. Quarterly On Site) and support the Director of Marketing and Client Engagement in logistics for Via Events (public events)
  • Business Contracts — serve as the main point of contact for supporting outbound sales contracts through coordination of IT and legal review and managing inbound contracts for partners and vendors
  • Accounts Payable/Receivables/Accounting – review expense reports for accuracy and policy; process payables and receivables; new vendor set up; reconcile bank accounts for month-end financials; create reports; participate in audits
  • Human Resources Administration – perform day-to-day operations of onboarding new employees, benefits, and payroll, and coordination with vendors and consultants
  • Recruiting – Set up posts for open positions, sort and screen resumes, coordinate interviews for hiring managers. Help ensure a positive overall candidate experience

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Operations

  • Maintain an organized system for tracking, monitoring, and prioritizing contacts, tasks, and projects for CEO and overall company operations
  • Assist executive team with other projects as needed
  • Oversee management of office (equipment and supply ordering, maintenance and repairs)
  • Research, negotiate, manage, and administer all operations/vendor contracts
  • Support IT through 3rd party consultants 
  • Review and approve all operational expenses
  • Organize and coordinate all staff meetings and events
  • Manage the company’s corporate calendar
  • Monitor and assist with maintaining the organization and upkeep of general offices
  • Manage property management request; parking, building, suite access
  • Send out company-wide email announcements
  • Maintain and manage the company’s conferencing software/hardware
  • Oversee company’s mail/courier accounts
  • Manage the company’s cell phone account
  • Proactively identify opportunities for creating more effective operational processes

Human Resources

  • Post Job announcements (website, social media platforms)
  • Facilitate phone screens and in-person interviews with hiring manager
  • Serve as Justworks administrator and key contact
  • Manage HR recordkeeping
  • Coordinate performance review process
  • Manage, process and maintain all on-boarding and off-boarding procedures
  • Direct and respond to all HR related requests (internal and external)

Accounts Payable, Billing and Payroll

  • Manage expenses, A/R, A/P including making timely vendor payments, creating reports, and participating in periodic audits
  • Manage the budget including participating in planning, monthly tracking, and reconciliation with oversight from executive leadership
  • Generate accurate invoices according to schedule and present to customers in a timely manner
  • Review invoices requiring additional assistance with branch team during weekly meeting, identifying action plans and follow-up
  • Create purchase orders, manage receipts and vendor bills to ensure accurate and timely payment
  • Review payroll for accuracy of hours and employee signatures on timesheets – submit for processing when complete

REQUIREMENTS/ MUST HAVES

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive administrative support/office management experience
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple competing priorities with ease and professionalism
  • Strong bookkeeping and accounting experience
  • HR experience (payroll, benefits, and recordkeeping)
  • Experience with office productivity tools and software
  • Excellent personal accountability with a strong work ethic
  • Must have impeccable integrity, with an ability to act with discretion in handling sensitive information
